The sky is blue, not a cloud in sight and winter is feeling just lovely upon my skin, as I reach for my first sip of a good strong coffee…..Mummmmmm!! Oh, that’s right, groundhog day starts again.
I actually got very frustrated with that movie ‘Groundhog Day’ with Bill Murray. Love the guy as an actor…but really, what a plot…how annoying, the same shit day in day out until you get it right. Clearly, I am not getting it right, because for a long time now I most definitely feel like I am replaying the same day, same frustrating shit, over and over and over again.
You would think by now we would have it down pat getting ready and departing for school. Wake Up, Good Morning Everyone, Glorious day, here’s your breakfast, school clothes, lunches packed, cold drink bottles, school notes signed, homework signed, daughter’s hair done, musical instruments, library books – lets go and have a wonderful day kids!
But Oh no…that would be way too easy, too boring. So amongst trying to achieve the above tasks, and much more, in a timely fashion, we have two kids verbally fighting over who got up first…wait, now three kids are debating the topic, one kid still snoring, then one kid decides to throw socks all over the house while trying to get a matching pair, (I was sure I matched all the socks in his draw neatly), then one kid asking me if a friend can come over for his birthday which is over seven months away, my daughter then argues that there is going to be no birthday parties this year, is there Mum?, while the snoring kid finally gets up and starts burping in my ear, because he thinks it is funny, then they start yelling over someone using too much milk…I have more milk I say aloud, I think I said it aloud.
It feels like there is a massive whirlwind in our house in the mornings and I am still not aligned to it’s chaotic flair. The kids eventually fall, jump, slither out to the car and into school and I don’t even get the chance to sigh…oops I forgot to make breakfast and lunch for hubby again and did he ask me for something or to do something today for him while I was getting my youngest’s sock out of the toilet…not sure…I failed again – Groundhog Day, see you again tomorrow!! xx
