And here is my answer… Yes, no beating around the bush today!! The reason why women blog, write, facebook, chat, etc, etc more than men, is all due to those bloody pretty ditty girlie dairies with a lock and key that we all got given as little girls.

Yes, come on, time to fess up. We all had one or two, or ten or more. I wrote in them for years and then went off to college and Mum eventually threw them out. Bloody gosh I hope Mum didn’t read them before she threw them out. I still have one diary I kept from my college days and since 2004 onwards, I have kept a diary every day, every year. Mostly for work, but perhaps a few tit bits!

Yes, pure and simple… girls, thanks to the pretty ditty diaries of our youth we have turned into high level diary loggers. Whether it be via facebook, blogging, any social media platform really, a journal, a traditional diary, texting…we just love to chat, share, compare and unfortunately sometimes snare, more than our gorgeous better halves, the male!

One brave soul once told me that ‘men are doers and women are booers’, needless to say that one brave soul never got to DO my laundry again!!

Historically I think men were big on keeping journals or MALE Diaries, for obvious historical reasons, while the ladies were busy turning over the food crops or washing the town’s togas at the Nile. But clearly time has brought about change and men have felt less of a need or desire to record and women have felt more and more of a need or desire to record. The other difference here, is the content of the recordings. Men believe historically they were recording facts (like the story of how big the fish that got away was…) and women, I believe, mostly have found comfort and strength in recording ‘how it really is and how it really feels’.

My final word on the matter, women have simply had more practice…
